In connection with the World Environment Day, The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru chapter organized an Ideathon competition at Infosys, Mysuru on 3-6-2023

In connection with Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, to celebrate 75th Independence Day of the country and glories history of its people culture and achievements, NSS unit of GSSSIETW organized an in-house Drawing Competition with the theme “Spirit of Freedom Struggle”. More than 25 students actively participated in the competition and the best two drawings were selected as winners of the competition. The winners were honored by Dr. M Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW on 8th March 2022. First prize was won by Sneha M of 3rd semester ECE Department and the second prize was given to Bhavani K of 3rd semester CSE Department.

Awareness program on importance of Education on 8th March 2022

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized awareness program on importance of education at Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2022 in association with Government High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village. This program was actively carried out by NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW.

During this program NSS volunteers emphasized on importance of Education as, Education is one of the key components for an individual’s success. It has the ability to shape one’s life in the right direction. Education is a process of imparting or acquiring knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment. It prepares oneself or others intellectually for mature life. It improves not only the personal life of the people but also their community. Thus, one cannot neglect the significance of Education in life and society.

NSS volunteers also provided information to school children about the Government initiative, Right to Education Act (RTE Act 2009). This Act came into effect on 1 April 2010, following which education has become the fundamental right of every child in India. On similar lines, volunteers also enlightened students about the other schemes launched by the government such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid-Day Meal, Adult Education, Skill Development Scheme, National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, National Program for Education of Girls at Elementary Education, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Scheme for Infrastructure Development in Minority Institutions, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, etc.

In this drive 78 students actively participated along with Dr. Sheshadri S N, NSS Program officer & Syeda Nausheen Fathima, NSS coordinator, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru and Village Panchayth, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk jointly organized International Women’s Day-2022 with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” on 8th March 2022 at Govt. High School premises, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk.

Mr. Rukmanda, Panchayath Development Officer, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath was the Chief Guest of the event in his speech he said that, women are recognized and celebrated for playing various roles in different spheres of life. Women have a spirit which makes them excel in their fields. They contribute massively to the lives of their family members and the country.

During this event Kumar S, Headmaster, Govt. High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day he stressed that there is a great responsibility of the society to empower women to overcome the gender inequality. He also said that, the world is moving towards gender equality, it is moving towards a balance between both men and women. A change is required and is also essential. It is observed that men have had more advantages in every sphere of life in comparison to women since ages. However, this needs a change as we all are humans and should be treated equally with equal rights and opportunities.

The event was presided by Smt. Suma, president, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath, in her presidential address she emphasized that now a day’s Women are indeed making the world to turn heads towards them because of their strength and participation in almost all fields.

In connection with Swach Bharath Abhiyan, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Swach Village Abhiyan program at Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2022 in association with Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath. During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness in the village. After the drive, the solid waste was segregated into wet & dry waste and it was disposed in proper manner.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Health awareness program at Danagalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 18th November 2021.

Dr. Venkatesh, Medical officer, Community Health Centre, Jayapura village, Mysuru Taluk was the Guest speaker. In his speech he emphasized the importance of cultivating good food habits for good health. Followed by this he spoke about women health issues, symptoms and remedies for various common health problems related to women. In the recent times, concern towards women health has been increased multifold.

There is an increase in the diseases which have been attributed to the recent lifestyle changes of today’s woman. The need of the hour is to adopt the easiest strategy of prevention. Prevention means an early diagnosis and a timely effective treatment.

On the occasion of Azadi ki Amruth Mahothsav to commemorate the 75th year of Independence Day, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized plantation program on 18th November 2021 at D Saluhundi Village Govt. High School premises. The event was conducted in association with Danagalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk, Mysuru district.

As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribution to green and healthy environment students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru planted 75 saplings of different varieties. The students and faculties selected the empty places in the school premises and the road sides to plant saplings in a well-organized way. In order to restore the eco-balance of the environment, aforestation drive was taken with all seriousness. Participants were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success.

NSS Volunteers of GSSSIETW visited Organic research Station, Naganahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2021 to know more about Organic farming in current scenario.

Sri NalwadiKrishnaraja Wadiyar, Ruler of Mysore Kingdom, a visionary who set up the Naganahalli Farming Research Centre 110 years ago for the development of Agriculture and to help the farmers to increase their income. Now the centre is functioning under University of Agriculture Sciences, Bengaluru.

During the visit students visited all departments of Research centre and learnt about researches going on in agriculture field. Dr. P Prakash, Professor and Chief of Organic agriculture Research Centre explained about the activities of the centre.

Dr. S N Vasudevan, Associate Director, Research and Development, University of Agriculture Sciences,Bengaluru explained about the journey of organic farming in India, in beginning, organic agriculture was started by a small number of innovative and progressive farmers, farmers’ groups, NGOs, civil society organizations in Karnataka state.

In this event 50 NSS Volunteers actively participated with NSS programme officer, Sheshadri S N &Smt. Syeda Nausheen Fathima, NSS Coordinator, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

Followed by this, he enlightened on the facilities provided by Health and Family welfare Department, Govt. of Karnataka to improve the health of women and children. During this event Smt. REPORT ON COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL MAINTENANCE AT SSLC EXAMINATION CENTRE on 22nd July 2021

In connection with the SSLC Examinations scheduled on 19th and 22nd July 2021 especially in this pandemic situation of Covid-19 there is a need of taking more safety measures of students and teachers. In this regard Non Government organization Youth For Seva(YFS) came forward to support the State Government in conducting SSLC Examination by following Standard operating procedure(SOP) which was imposed by Govt. of Karnataka. Youth For Seva in association with VTU intended to coordinate the work of ensuring the COVID-19 safety protocol at all SSLC examination centers across Karnataka with the help of faculty members and students of colleges affiliated to VTU.
In this view, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru affiliated to VTU, Belagavi has taken a great step to support this social concern by deputing vaccinated faculty members and student volunteers for ensuring safety measures at Maharaja’s Junior College, JLB Road, Mysuru on 19th and 22nd July 2021.

In connection with Swachh Survekshan-2020, Mysuru City Corporation appreciated the efforts of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women, Mysuru for providing more number of Swachhatha feedbacks and conducting more number of Swachhatha awareness campaigns in and around Mysuru city. In this regard a function was organized by Mysuru City Corporation on 12th March 2020. During this event NSS program officer Mr. Sheshadri S N, Assistant professor, Dept. of Chemistry and Smt. Syeeda Nausheen Fathima, Assistant professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering received the appreciation certificate and memento. Mayor Smt. As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribute towards green and healthy environment, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru had organized plants distribution program with the caption ‘One House One Plant’ on 13th October 2020 at Naganahalli Village in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk. Sri Channappa, Secretary, Naganahalli village panchayath was the chief guest of the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of plantation in current scenario. The purpose of tree plantation is to save the environment and to beautify our life. Trees are valuable gifts of nature they are known as the best friends of human beings. He suggested the villagers to look after the saplings by watering them. He appreciated the efforts of GSSSIETW towards nurturing Mother Nature. During this event, 100 saplings of different verities were distributed to the villagers.

In connection with the wide spread of COVID-19 across the Globe as a part of social responsibility and as a support in fight against the Global Pandemic, National Service Scheme Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru distributed the essential safety materials to Police Stations and Urban Primary Health Centres of Mysuru city on 9th July 2020.
During this event the essential safety materials like Face covers (Masks), Hand Sanitizers & Hand washing solution of worth Rs.12,000/- was distributed to Police Stations of Metagalli and VV Puram extension, Traffic Police Station of VV Puram extension & Urban Primary Health Centres of Saraswathipuram & Kuvempunagar extensions.

On the eve of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s 185th Birth anniversary, Basic Science Department & NSS Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru jointly organized a Special talk on ‘Personality Development and Motivation towards Success’ by Poojya Sri Dr. Shantharathananda Ji Maharaj, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru on Monday 17th February 2020.
In his talk he emphasized the importance Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in shaping the overall personality of young Indians. He enlightened on the Positive attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal.
